MEET DR. BURNS

Jordan Burns, DO, is a highly skilled and compassionate urologist who joined the Blue Ridge Urological team in 2023. Dr. Jordan Burns attended high school at Eastern Mennonite School in Harrisonburg, VA. She then headed to Morgantown, WV to earn her bachelor’s degree in Biology with a minor in Leadership Studies from West Virginia University, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Following her undergraduate studies, Dr. Burns went on to obtain her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine, Virginia Campus (VCOM), where she graduated with Honors.

Dr. Burns continued her medical training with an Internship in General Surgery at Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC). Her passion for urology led her to pursue a residency in Urology at CAMC, where she was named Chief Urology Resident during her final year. Throughout her academic journey, Dr. Burns was recognized for her outstanding achievements. She was inducted into the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa honor society while at WVU and earned the esteemed Sigma Sigma Phi Honors during her medical school tenure at VCOM.

Dr. Burns possesses a keen interest in various urological areas, including general urology, kidney stones, cancers of the genitourinary tract, incontinence, and enlarged prostate/BPH. Her diverse skill set encompasses both medical treatments and surgical interventions.

Driven by the diversity of procedures and the opportunity to contribute to both clinical and surgical aspects of treatment, Dr. Burns wholeheartedly chose urology as her specialty. She finds immense fulfillment in building genuine patient-physician relationships and offering compassionate care to her patients.

One of Dr. Burns’ favorite parts about her job is making patients feel comfortable and at ease when discussing highly personal health concerns. She strives to create a supportive and empathetic environment where patients feel safe to express themselves openly. She is dedicated to maintaining an LGBTQIA+ friendly practice, ensuring that all patients receive inclusive and understanding care, free from any prejudice or bias. Dr. Burns’ patient care philosophy is deeply rooted in her appreciation for family values. She understands the significance of each patient as a cherished member of their own family, and this sentiment profoundly shapes her approach to delivering compassionate and personalized care.

Outside of work, Dr. Burns cherishes quality time with her wife and son. Dr. Burns also enjoys exploring new culinary experiences through fine dining with her family, traveling and cheering on Mountaineers at football games. A Harrisonburg native, Dr. Burns is excited to return to the area and serve patients in the community.
